Savoury Corn Cheese Waffles

Light and crispy, these corn cheese savoury waffles have a super prominent corn flavour - scrutinizingly like a cheesy corn fritter. If you are like me and want variety in waffles, try these for a flavourful, healthy breakfast.

The first thing that comes to mind when someone says waffles is butter, cream, maple syrup, and something really sweet. But we’re the kind of family that wants variety, so here’s a savoury waffle recipe that's been a big hit.

Made using golden sweet corn, cheese and veggies, this is the perfect kid-friendly recipe that will be gobbled lanugo by the pickiest of the eaters. Since I have used ground and whole corn, the flavour of corn is really prominent in every bite. Plus it lends a lovely texture to the waffles. Finely chopped spring onions and capsicum unhook crunch, while the cheese is the hero of this recipe that turns these savoury waffles into total flavour bombs!

Ingredients

  • ½ Cup Frozen Corn Ground
  • ½ Cup Frozen Corn Defrosted
  • ½ To ¾ Teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Chopped Spring Onions
  • ¼ Cup Chopped Untried Capsicum
  • ½ teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • ¼ Teaspoon Ground Woebegone Pepper
  • ½ Cup Grated Cheese Cheddar Or Any Melting Cheese Of Your Choice
  • ¼ Cup All-Purpose Flour Maida
  • ¼ Cup Whole Wheat Flour Atta
  • 1 Egg
  • Cup Milk
  • ¼ teaspoon Baking Powder

Instructions

  • Preheat your waffle maker equal to its instructions.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground frozen corn, defrosted frozen corn, chopped spring onions, chopped untried capsicum, Italian seasoning, ground woebegone pepper, grated cheese, all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, and sultry powder. Mix everything together.
  • Add the egg and milk to the corn and cheese mixture, and mix until well combined.
  • Grease the waffle maker with cooking spray or butter, if needed, to prevent sticking.
  • Pour a ladleful of the prepared thrash onto the hot waffle maker, spreading it evenly to imbricate the surface. Close the waffle maker and melt the waffle for well-nigh 6-7 minutes or until it turns golden brown and crispy.
  • Carefully remove the cooked Cheese Corn Waffle from the waffle maker and place it on a serving plate. Repeat the process with the remaining thrash to make increasingly waffles.
  • Serve the Cheese Corn Waffles hot, either on their own or with your favourite toppings such as sour cream, salsa, or a drizzle of mint chutney.

Notes

  • Don’t worry if you don’t have a waffle maker. You can hands pour this thrash over a hot pan and turn it into a pancake.
  • You can customise the veggies - some other veggies to try include cabbage, onions, grated carrots, spinach, grated zucchinis and tintinnabulate peppers to make this dish plane increasingly nutrient dense.
  • If you are subtracting grated veggies like zucchinis and tintinnabulate peppers, make sure to squeeze out the glut water to prevent the thrash from rhadamanthine too runny.

Savoury waffles are often made of flour, eggs, and milk like their sweet counterparts, but the similarities end here. Unlike sweet waffles, savoury waffles often include some sort of veggies for flavour and crunch.
